Questions and Answers
Have a Question?
-
I need the length to be approximately 13 feet. Is there a minimum safe length that this string can be cut?
These cords can be cut to any length you desire. Just make sure you terminate where you cut. Some people use female plugs or electric tape.
-
If one bulb goes out, will the test stay lit?
This cord is made in parallel so as long as the wire is not damaged, the bulbs will stay lit. Here is a link to a blog talking about it: https://www.christmas-light-source.com/blogs/articles/are-christmas-lights-in-series-or-parallel
-
Can a socket be removed if I need an unlit gap?
Yes you can remove an empty socket if it is not to be used. But most people cover the opening with electric tape if they don't put a bulb in it. You can do it either way.
-
Is the 2 still the maximum number of strings when using LEDs?
Yes, the specification is independent of the style of bulb installed.
-
What is the maximum amount of sets you can connect?
This set is rated to be connected up to a maximum of 2 sets in series, regardless of style of bulbs used.
-
I only need a strand of 20 lights, what do I do with the 5 extra sockets? Do you have a screw in plug or do I just try and wrap the 5 unused sockets with plastic bags and electrical tape?
This cord is wired in parallel so if there are unused sockets at the end of the circuit, the cord can be clipped and terminated after the 20th socket. Unplug the cord, clip, then terminate in a female gilbert plug, with electrical tape, or liquid electrical tape. A master electrician in your area can assist with this project if requried.
-
does this cord have male and female ends? and if so how many strings can be connected at once?
This cord is constructed with a standard male/female plug set. They are rated to be run no more than 2 string sets in series independent of the style of bulbs used.
-
Does this 25L C9 empty stringer set have weep holes or is the bottom of the socket solid?
There is a weep hole located in the bottom of each socket.
-
How many bulbs can you fit in each socket?
A single bulb with an E17 base can be screwed into each socket. This cord has 12 inch spacing between each socket so will required 100 bulbs to be completely filled. We suggest purchasing an extra box or two of bulbs if installing traditional glass bulbs.
